Looking for 2nd Opinion about nutrition/supplements

Just recently joined a gym and had a brief consultation with a personal trainer. We just discussed my goals, what was motivating me, holding me back, diet, etc. Because of my very poor diet (no veggies/fruits, very little water if any, soda, sugar...basically all the bad stuff and none of the good), he suggested that I take some supplements. He wanted me to start taking the following:

http://www.lifetime-weightloss.com/fastfuel-complete/
http://www.lifetime-weightloss.com/womens-performance-multi/
http://www.lifetime-weightloss.com/omega-3-fish-oil

Can anyone give me their opinions on these items? If I should take these, are there places I can find them at a lower price? I really want to lose weight, and be overall healthier, but I need help (personal trainer, nutritional guidance, etc), I just wish it wasn't so expensive to get help =/

Any suggestions, guidance, support, recommendations, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!!

Try to fix your diet first before investing in a bunch of supplements. Multivitamins and Fish oils are great supplements (and are pretty cheap at Vitamin Shoppe/GNC), but they will not help you get into shape alone. They're meant to "supplement" a good diet and exercise program. It sounds to me like he/she is just trying to push supplements and make money off of you. If you are finding it hard to meet your protein goals for the day, try out some basic whey protein to up your protein intake.

Considering that the first recommendation from your "trainer..." is too buy and consume a bunch of supplements, I would be careful moving forward with this person. If your trainer is going to construct a meal plan for you, just be careful if your calories (carbs and fat) are super low because they probably don't know what they're doing.

I also just had the same consult at Lifetime...and he recommended me the same exact supplements and my diet is a lot different from yours. I eat as healthy as I can: lots of veggies, fruits, lean meats, whole grains, etc. Honestly I would save your money but it's up to you. :flowerforyou:

Edited to add: Keep in mind that it does NOT have to cost a lot of money to lose weight and get healthier. I lost all of my weight without a gym membership, nutritionist, traininer, nothing. Google, MFP boards, and trial is error is how I learned what I needed to know. I joined Lifetime last weekend because I wanted the pool, group fitness classes, and rock climbing. I understand they have to do their sales pitch to make you think you NEED to spend more money in order to get educated, but it's not necessary. Promise!
