Generosity and... clothing karma! :)

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread - but it seems as good as any.
I am feeling pretty stoked right now... here's why:
In the past year, I've gone from a size 14 to a size 6... which means that my wardrobe is now slim pickins... literally.
I have given away all of my larger sized clothing - all of it in beautiful shape - without asking any money for it in return. I was starting to think that was a poor idea.... because it's expensive to build a new wardrobe from the ground up. I've been buying new sizes as I get smaller, but eventually, each new thing starts to look "off" because it's literally starting to hang. (I know, this is the kind of problem it's actually good to have).
In desperation, I posted an ad on Craigslist - explaining that I can't afford to keep replacing my clothes at this rate..... I got a response from someone who offered to GIVE me several pairs of capris, workout pants, tank tops, causal tops, office-y blouses and a couple of dresses. She's a tiny little thing and had to buy size 6,8,10 when she was pregnant, but has since lost the weight. Talk about my good luck!
It so happened that the items were in styles that I would buy myself, the brands I enjoy wearing, in the sizes I need, and in wonderful condition. For FREE. How amazing is that?
I gave her $20 and wished I could give more.... all with the attitude of gratitude.
And the cherry on top, if you will : there was a pair of size 4 (yes, FOUR) pants in the pile. They're a wee bit snug at the waist, but fit everywhere else. A FOUR!!!!!
It's late now... nearing midnight and I need to get some rest. But I'm beyond thankful for the lady who responded to my post. Thank you, Anh. Your generosity REALLY made my day!

What a nice lady. I had the same problem, who can afford to constantly buy a "whole new wardrobe every 15 pounds. My sister and a very nice MFP loser both gave me "all" their old clothes. I now have a beautiful wardrobe. I thought maybe I shouldn't lose anymore weight because I really like my new hand me downs, they are actually better (cuter) than my own clothes were. Dumb idea or so I have been told. LOL0

thats fantastic, what a lovely lady You have hit on a very interesting point there, for those of us who have lost/ gained weight over the last years, usually end up with a wardrobe consisting of various sized clothing. i don't want to throw away smaller sizes, as i know i will lose the weight and need to "down size" My own plan is to put money aside so when i finally reach my GW I can go out and buy new wardrobe staples.
It must feel wonderful to finally fit into smaller sizes again! Well done!!:drinker:0 -
Wow, that was really nice of her. It can be expensive having to keep buying new clothes for weight changes so you got lucky there. My husband and I are signed up to a thing called Freecycle where people can put up posts of wanted's and offered's for things they are getting rid of or need. We use it a fair bit both to get things and to give things away that we no longer require.0
