Jump Start Diets

I'm slowly losing the holiday weight I gained (3.5 lbs), and when I say slowly I mean less than .5 lbs per week since the first week in january. I've upped my activity and am staying within my caloric limit. I am getting stronger, but was wondering if anyone has ever done any of those "Jump Start/Kick Start" diets.
They usually are very "South Beachy" in that they have you eat a very low caloric amount each day, about 300 calories per meal and snacks and eliminate any fruits, all carbs (except veggies), and no sweeteners nor or alchohol of any kind. Only every limited diary is allowed per day. This is usually what you see with the Jillian Michaels Body Revoluition or Shaun T's programs. It's usually promoted to be followed for about a week, with an intensified level of exercise. The promise is to "lose 1 pants size" in a week. Has anyone tried this and been succesfull?
My concern is that if you do a kick start, what happens the weeks following when you go into your normal nutrition and exercise routine?

Usually with these types of diets you mainly lose water weight. So after the initial week you go back to adding in carbs and your body refills your glucose stores regaining your water weight you just lost. Just eat healthy, with in your goals, be consistent with weighing/measuring foods and the exercise. It will all catch up.0

What happens in the weeks following the program depends on what you do in those weeks. As alypri said, some of your losses during the initial "diet" will be water weight, so you may see some (although almost certainly not all of it) of this return when you first stop dieting. If you stop the diet and go back to your old way of eating, you may see your weight start to climb back up. If you stop the diet but continue tracking your caloric intake and achieving a caloric deficit each day, you should expect to see your weight continue to decrease.0
