I feel out of control

I am a 19 year old student who was always a skinny child. Unfortunately, my sedentary life and love of munching have led me to gain quite a bit of weight, especially in the last couple of years. I'm a female, 5'5, and I weigh 167 pounds. My BMI is 27.5. I feel like the weight keeps piling on, despite numerous efforts to control it on my part. I feel like I am losing control of my own body. I hate that feeling.
I am new to this site, so hello! I hope I don't give up, like I have so many times before.

Hi Erin, every day is a new opportunity to take control, it's a great feeling when you make progress and know that you are the one who made it happen! Dont feel discouraged by small setbacks. We all make mistakes and there is never a reason to give up on yourself. Try to do your best every day and when you dont, just get back on the train the next day. You can do it!

Thanks for the response. I really don't want to give up, and I'm hoping to reverse years of bad habits, so we will see how that goes!!!

Thanks for the cheerful response! The most important part of breaking a habit, is breaking the guilt that goes along with it. I know that the first couple weeks of eating different will be very hard, but I also know that once I get over the initial shock of change, I will be able to adapt! I really have to appreciate the fact that I'm trying to catch my weight now, and not later when I am much heavier.

Welcome! Log everything you eat accurately & honestly. Find reliable database entries. (There's a lot of incorrect data in there.) Weigh your food. Log your exercise, and eat back your exercise calories. If you're not losing, eat back half your exercise calories.
