I did the BOD POD!

The results were what I expected, but it was still hard to see how really out of control I let myself get. But the main reason I wanted to post was the BOD POD TDEE was 240 calories LESS than the IIFYM I was using. I thought I was cutting 500 calories a day but looks like I might have only been doing half of that. Now I'll just see if the weight loss results are better with this new information!

If you've never heard of BOD POD, here's one link of many:

Yeah, you have to know your lean body mass to get a more accurate estimate of your TDEE. You can still use IIFYM with that information to calculate your new macro levels if you wish.

I'm going to get a 6-month DEXA scan follow-up to see how my lean body mass has changed since August. I've been maintaining my weight, basically, but I've been lifting like crazy, so hopefully I'll see some changes.

I love gathering data about myself!

I was confused when IIFYM said to eat a gram a protein for every pound of body weight. Even if I used my goal weight I wasn't going to be able to get close! But now I understand it's really a gram of protein per lean body mass...makes so much more sense!

I was nervous because I knew the results were going to be rough...and that I had to sit down and discuss them with someone! But now I agree wtih you...it is super interesting, and motivational, to know the ground truth about my body.
