Well, that's disappointing

One thing I've been looking forward to for the past week and a half is a 5k the local campus was hosting tomorrow (Saturday). I understand that the weather here isn't ideal, usual South Texas weather, but tomorrow is supposed to be both warmer and clearer than it was today (without the issue of potential freezing, which they did have today and still held classes). I get that the cooler temperatures aren't going to attract as many people, but I don't honestly think there was going to be that large of a draw in the first place (the campus is very much an empty weekend campus since a majority of the student body does go home if they live on campus and 8:30 on a Saturday morning is not an ideal time to get people to come). The 5ks that I've participated on hosted by the campus are very positive events (they have both the pharmacy school host a little informational booth area before the race and members of another organization assist with the event including being set-up along the route with water and encouragement). It's something I've really been excited to do since it will be a change of scenery from the routes around my neighborhood.

I know it's only pushed a week back, but it is a bit frustrating. And honestly, 5k scheduling has seemed to be going against me (in November, a friend and I were supposed to do Bad Prom Run, only to figure out a couple of weeks before the race that they pushed it back to May, which doesn't work for either of us since her schedule changes quite often with work and I am in post-graduation limbo with trying to find work and being ready to move to wherever I have to). It's just a bit of a let down. I'm still probably going to campus tomorrow and I'll walk what I believe the route will be (the route they've used for other 5k's). But yeah...Just a bit of a disappointment rant...

Why not run the expected route anyway to get some practice in?
It's quite common for people to 'recce' a route the week before. Bit late now, but maybe see if you can find others planning to do it want to join you.

Your problem is certainly up there with global warming, poverty and the tea shortage in england, my only advice would be to set your alarm, put your trainers on and run 5k anyhow

others might show up not knowing it was post-poned. I think you should show up at the regular time and see if there are any other runners you could meet, maybe make some friends in the process? :) And as geebusuk suggested, you could always get in a great workout :)
