Saucony vs Brooks

Tonight was my first run in my new brooks, previous to these I was wearing saucony's. My toes on my right foot went numb and I know that might mean my laces were tied too right, but I'm also wondering if it's common to need a different size when switching between brands?

Both of those brands are too tight across the bridge of my foot. My toes would go to sleep without lacing them at all. The support system, sizing and width of all shoes are different. Even different styles or years of the same brand will not fit the same. It's a good idea to go in and try many different shoes then walk around the store with them on before buying.

Ran in Brooks for years but then they brought out the new Beast model and it felt like I was wearing snow boots. I went through all of the older Beast models I could find and then tried on a pair of Asics. Never went back to Brooks.

I can't seem to fit Saucony at all so have never owned a pair. Just wore out a (not great fitting) Nike trainer so I recently bought a new pair of Brooks because they had the right size for my extra-wide foot. I had to add my orthotic to it for much-needed arch support that almost none of the brands have (for me). That said, I went to a running shoe store, and tried on about 20 different pairs in different sizes and different brands, spent a couple of hours at it, and that's what works best for me every time.

I was fitted for shoes last week. Tried on a million pairs of Saucony's. They just felt bad. I walked away with a pair of neutral brooks. I tried them on a 9.5 mile run last week and they felt good. Same size as my old adidas. Not too tight, however the Brooks I have are known for being wider and good for people with flat feet that don't wear orthotics (me) but have enough room for orthotics too. So if I was wearing a different pair of brooks that weren't as wide, I might need a bigger size.
