dull ache in leg..... help!

Hi guys, on Wednesday I done my 5x5, with new personal best for squats. I played hiit football for an hour and I worked which involved walking around for 5 hours. Since Thursday I have had this horrible dull ache in my left leg up at the top. Quadricep?(above the knee, if I'm correct) I went for a little jog today to try and get the blood flowing as I've noticed I got doms in both legs but the dull ache is so much worse at night and I can't sleep. I have used ice and a hot bath which helped temporarily. I have been sore from the gym many a times but the ache I'm experiencing is awful. Also feels swollen if I run my finger down the muscle I can feel the swelling point. I know there may not be qualified people here but still some may have experienced this. Anyone with help? Missing workouts due to ache and no sleep!?!? Thanks alot

See a doctor :( The swollen spot doesn't sound good. Keep the ice, and elevate it and get it checked out. It could be so many things, but it's not a normal sort of after-workout thing it doesn't sound like.

Maybe just a really pulled muscle, though! But see a doc.

Hi thanks for the response. Can't get to the doctor until Monday. My thoughts are I've over done it and strained my muscle. (After lots of Google research) seems the most likely. If it's still the same Monday I will definitely see the doctor.

Oh, good. Just rest it, for sure. And remember the ice if it keeps having swelling. Good luck!

    And maybe an anti-inflammatory?

Ice, NSAIDs, and rest for now. If you can, try to get on a stationary bike or elliptical and just go nice and slow for 20-30 minutes to get some blood flow. Also it may hurt like hell initially but if you can foam roll your quads it should help too. Just to clarify, is your leg swollen or is there any bruising or discoloration around the bump?
