Hi I tried eating at 1700 calories as I weigh 244lbs and I lost one pound this week which is good and at least moving in the right direction
I am going to move my calories to 1600 this week to see how I go to try and get the 2 lb loss that I want a week
Is this ok to do?

Don't go too fast, just stick with 1700 for now, you can change it once you've lost a few more pounds, or you stop losing weight.
Instead of lowering calories, why not add a bit more activity to your day.0 -
That sounds a little low, i lose on average 0.5lb a week, and i weigh 100lbs less than you and i eat 1490. Ive rreally had to play about to find the right calorie balance that works though, and ive been on it 18 months! Lossing too much too soon isnt a good thing! 1lb a week is maintainable. Are you training too or just lossing through diet?0

You ate 1700 calories and lost a pound! That's a fantastic weekly loss! Enjoy it! Don't change something that is working.
Remember consistency is what you are striving here. Plus you want to be able to continue with this for the long haul, so don't make yourself miserable by trying to rush it.
I eat between 1600-2000 calories a day, which means I can enjoy all my favorite things, and still lose weight.
I need more coffee because I think I confused myself with this post! But stick with whats working!0 -
1lb a week is great progress and the more can eat, the more likely you are to stick to your plan and not feel deprived.0
