HELP

Last year I lost a lot of weight and finally reached a healthy BMI. I have a while to go before I'm completely happy, but my motivation has completely gone. Ever since Christmas I've been horrendous, hardly exercising and eating what I want. I regret it each day yet I still continue. Has anyone else been through this and found a way out? Am in massive need of motivation. I feel like I need a wake up call but never manage to listen to myself so any advice (or blunt messages to make me stop being a lazy hog) would be MASSIVELY appreciated

I recommend going back to basics.

Look at why you wanted to lose the weight in the first place - is that still the case or has that aspect changed?

Put everything you eat in a food diary and set yourself small goals again.

Another good place to look is the following post - great set of easy reminders...

Good luck and go to it.....

Start by logging everything you eat accurately & honestly. Find reliable database entries. (There's a lot of incorrect data in there.) Weigh your food. Once you have your logging under control, the rest will follow.

Motivation (for me) comes from Goals. If I don't have anything to work for, then I'm basically a hamster on its wheel, spinning and spinning.

I have been where you're at. Reached my goal of weight loss then said "What Now" I had not run a 5K since I was in the military, so I took that as a Goal and it helped a lot, but I also try to change my workouts up every few months, so I don't get bored. Your goal doesn't have to be a 5K or anything daunting, but it does have to be worthwhile to you or you won't stick with it.

I also get motivated by seeing my friends from MFP post a workout, especially on the days that the committee in my head says "aw you can skip today" Those posts keep me going!

I am a visual person so I post pictures of my goals on the fridge, cabinets and treadmill For example we are planning a trip to kalahari water park so right mow I have the pictures of the watermark everywhere. The last time we went I was so out of shape it was a struggle to go up and down the water slides. My goal is to workout five days a week and loose fifty pounds by our trip. I have a favorite picture of two water slides on my treadmill and I want to take a picture standing there fifty pounds lighter
  • SMe thing happened to me. Reached my goal and maintained for a while then, started eating a little of this and that. A glass of wine here and there. Now I find 10 extra lbs on my hips!! I am back on track but I did remember the original goal.

I think maintaining is MUCH harder than losing as once I got my mind set on losing and had some results I kept motivated. Any others with more help appreciated.
