What is the best way to track the calories burned while exercising? Should I rely on the treadmill display? Or should I get a HRM, FitBit or something similar? Thanks!

My vote is HRM.0

I use a polar ft4 and really like it.0

I would just log it from the database, or switch to the TDEE method so you don't have to track it.0

I got a Polar FT4 and I love it. I got it for $60 off Amazon.0

HRM is the most accurate way. Polar makes good models.0

They're all just estimates. Some people reduce the margin of error by eating back half their exercise calories.
Fitbit shows your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), which helps you to accurately set your MFP activity level (and/or customize your calorie goal to TDEE minus 15 or 20%). You no longer need to log step based exercise (like walking & running). Non-step exercise can be logged either in Fitbit or in MFP. If you choose MFP, you'll be asked for start & end times so MFP can override your step data during that time.
If you live in a city or walk to work, Fitbit's the way to go.0
