I'm searching online to replace my recipe which has gone missing and come across a statement about not asking for this soup in France because they don't have it. It's an American soup invented by a Frenchman. That last part I already knew. But during my research on this soup when I first started making it a few years back, the references stated that the 'inventor' of the soup based it on the cold potato soup his mother made him with growing up. In France. So some parts of the population were making cold potato soups for summer time. So it isn't really an invention, is it? It's just a modification of a family recipe.

I have most of the ingredients and they really need to be used up, only I couldn't find my destructions for it. (Yes that is the word I want to use.) It isn't the healthiest of soups but mine is healthier than many I'm finding. I never used that much cream and milk Wow, some are shocking.

I usually cooked chicken and added it to the soup so it had more protean too. I don't have any chicken breast but I have two tins of chicken breast. It is really going to be a thrown together variety of soup. Since it is winter, I will eat it warm. I like it that way.

Anyone else have a guilty pleasure food that they still eat from time to time because life without it just isn't life? Scalloped potatoes with ham is my other one.

I have plenty of foods that I enjoy but I never feel guilty about it. Besides, cream and whole milk are pretty healthy, just not in massive quantities. Think about it this way, the French are thin, but look at what they eat. It's the smaller portions that make all the difference.
