Crane Heart Rate Monitor for Spinning/Outdoor cycling????

I have a Crane Heart Rate Monitor. My question: It seems it is only useful for walking or running. Does anyone have one of these?and How do you set it up for cycling outdoors and spinning classes for use as a heart rate monitor? Thanks
