Trying to get it together

I have 3 kids and run my own business. I started the Atkins diet in September 2013 and have lost 10 kg's and am very excited. Due to health reasons I am unable to stay on that diet to lose the next 10 kgs. I need a more balanced diet that will provide me with enough energy and support so I can get the next phase done. I am finding I am having trouble finding the right snack solutions. Any ideas?

I find it helpful to eat a lot (4-5 cups) of fresh vegies a day. They're very filling & nutritious & don't have many calories. If I feel as if I need more protein in my day, I dip the vegs in hummus. Yummy!

Don't do fab diets...ANYTHING diet. Your looking for a lifestyle change. Eat fruits/veggies, portion control and move...workouts, either a gym or you tube as free videos.

MFP sets you up with a basic calories in/ calories out equation. Just plug in what you eat, make sure you burn more than that, and boom, weight loss.

I wish you the best of luck. MFP is great and keeps me on track with what I eat. I have invested in a scale that has helped me with portion control. I believe that eating anything but with in your calorie range. I think you will be more successful here than using a "diet" fad.

Make certain to get in enough protein. It is very stressful right now to run a small business, try, try to have a little divorce each day. Sanity is not over rated. Snacks for me are raisins that are chewed exactly one at a time.

If you do not have a peanut allergy, I like spreading a thin layer of peanut butter on plain melba toast...you get your crunch and some protein...also, an apple with peanut butter is good as well. Lately I have been eating rice cakes too...not too bad, they have come a long way....
  • I don't really do diets anymore. I try to eat as clean as possible and just make sure I'm getting a lot of protein and veggies, some fruit and very little starch/grains (type 2 diabetic and very insulin resistant). Maybe just try a more balanced, cleaner diet. Protein, veggies, fruit, whole grains. No artificial ingredients, no processed foods, lots of water. Feel free to add me, if you'd like :)
