I recently bought a C25K app on my phone(the one from coolrunning.com i beleive) I am planning on here in a month or two starting it. Ive got a few reasons for waiting #1 ITS COLD!(well off and on cold lol 50 one day 2 the next i hate the weather in Missouri) #2 I have a 4 year old and no babysitter right now. Hubby and I work seperate shifts literally a couple hours together a day while im sleeping. #3 i live on a road with DRUNK DRIVERS i swear my road was made for people to drive drunk on it which makes me too nervous to run/walk/jog on the road especially with a 4 year old who is at a defiant stage. So we should be moving hopefully in April(ish) and I am wanting to start the program then. My question is what should i do to prepare for it? I dont have a gym membership or even one anywhere near my house. I do have a stationary bike at home. Im a month into my lifestyle change so Im still WAY OUTTA SHAPE! Any advise would be great! Thanks for any and all advise!! Cant wait till we move so i can get started!
Looking for advise for ways to get me in better shape by then! I dont have internet at home and youtube doesnt work on my phone so I cant watch any videos on youtube. THANKS I am thinking im going to set a start date of April 4(my bday) so that its not just a well ill do it tomorrow type thing.

I am doing C25K myself, and running is hard compared to other cardio exercises, so if you haven't been doing other cardio, start now to get your body conditioned to it. There are lots of DVD workouts available that can accomplish that. Biggest Loser Power Walk is good if you are seriously out of shape, so is Biggest Loser Cardio Max Weight Loss, but those are just a couple of choices that you can pick up at any store such as walmart for under $20. Turbo Jam is great also...
In addition to DVD's, you could try jogging in place. It isn't nearly the workout that actual jogging is (I know because as I said, I am doing C25K, and sometimes on rest days I jog in place while watching NETFLIX, the jogging in place is MUCH easier than the real jogging.)
The main point though for now is to get your body used to getting your heart rate up and keeping it up for around 30-40 minutes, that will help to sort of prepare you for C25K.0 -
Any of the Leslie Sansone walking videos are awesome to condition yourself and they are cheap too. They are easy to follow and there are tons to pick from.0

I did the C25K last year, having never run before, and have been running ever since. It is called couch potato to 5k because it starts off very gently. Prior to doing it I was doing some outdoor cycling, and walking both outside and short treadmill intervals. I decided I wasn't a total couch potato (just close!) so started the program at week 3 (the version I did was 9 weeks duration). Why not make use of that stationary bike you have and start building some aerobic fitness on that? plus there are some other good ideas posted above. I struggle to comprehend it being so cold outside exercise is difficult and possibly dangerous - here today I have the exact opposite problem - in the middle of a heat wave with the temp topping 100F. At least I can get out at dawn before it hots up. Hope you enjoy doing the C25K come April.0

WHAT?! It's 9F here (in PA) with ice everywhere. It's supposed to be 33F on Saturday -- a heatwave! Good luck with your running!0
