Am I hurting or helping my weight loss? I drink about 250 ounces of fluid water/coffee a day not counting fluid from my food. I don't think I am loosing weight like I should be.

Wow-that is about 30 or so 8oz glasses per day. I can tell you what I have been told by two of my friends who have worked with a personal trainer. They were told they should divide their current weight by half and they should be drinking that much water in ounces per day. So one of those ladies currently weighs 225 lbs. So according to her trainer she should be drinking 112-113 oz of water each day. She is up to about 64 right now.
I am typically drinking about 64-96 oz per day, and I do not count coffee or fluid from food.0 -
It won't do anything to your weight loss but WHY are you drinking 30 glasses a day?! That is insane. Are you feeling that thirsty? Have you been checked out for diabetes? Or kidney problems?0

Not all fluids are equal so you might be hurting your diet by drinking the wrong fluids. Water is good for you, the more, the better. Coffee, however, is another story. What do you put in it? Calories add on fast, one teapoon of sugar at a time, make sure not to underestimate your calorie intake with fluids.0

^^this!
I have a condition which causes excessive thirst. Get yourself checked out.

If you are feeling that thirsty all the time, I would see a doctor, could be a health condition such as diabetes.
However will it hurt your wight loss, no. There are some studies, though I take them with a grain of salt, that say if you have too much liquid it can make you potassium deficient. However, I'm sure eating a banana would solve that problem quickly lol.0 -
Is there a reason why you are drinking this much?? This is worrisome to me.
That seems like a lot to me, but I have a hard time drinking 64 oz in a day.
Are you really that thirsty?? You should see a doctor, because it could indicate you have an underlying issue.
Are you on medication or supplements that cause dehydration or extreme thirst? See your doctor.
Are you trying to keep from feeling hungry or afraid of being hungry? If so, then I might guess you are not eating enough food, not weighing food correctly and/or not counting exercise calories using a HRM.
You should be able to eat enough food while still losing and not be starving!!0 -
Don't let them rule out diabetes mellitus and send you away if you are still symptomatic. It is not the only condition x0

Weight loss is about intaking fewer calories than you burn. Water has no calories, so it is not going to stop you from losing. Coffee has calories, and often comes with a side of cream and sugar. If you are drinking a lot of coffee and adding cream and/or sugar to it, that could be causing you to go over your calories for the day.
And you really don't need to drink tons of water to stay hydrated. I aim for eight 8oz glasses a day. I usually go a little over, but I also don't drink anything except water.0 -
I have been check for diabetes and I am fine. I don't put any thing in my coffee. I am not sure why I drink so much,. I do drink about 8 cups of water a day and the rest is coffee. If I follow the half your weight thing I should be drinking about 78 ounces of just water.0

So you are drinking like 175oz of coffee a day? That is like 25 cups of coffee. How on earth have you not had a heart attack or at the very least, how can you sleep at night?0

I was checked for diabetes mellitus loads of times before they worked out what was wrong with me (well what was causing the thirst) pm me if you want x
Happy to talk about it on here but don't want to derail your thread x0 -
Really ?? 20+ cups of coffee a day ? I can't imagine.
So my answer to your question is, yes, too much coffee.0
