Stationery bicycle calories with HIIT

So since I am on a 1000 calorie diet, I don't go over 300 with exercising, but when using my stationery bicycle, I don't get off of there until it says 300 (or thereabouts, today it was 315). So, here is my question, if you do HIIT, say you are going 9 to 10 and then you do bursts of 11-14, is that counted in the total mileage, or is that more than what the bicycle is saying? I guess I need a new heart rate monitor, I have a watch but it stopped working as wasn't that great anyway. My bicycle does give pulse, but if you let go then grab on again, it gets all messed up.

    1. You're not doing hiit if you're regular speed is 10 and the faster speed is 14. Intervals yes hiit no.

    2. The bike calculates distance for the entire time you are peddling, regardless of your speed

That is not true (at least not the way I learned it), high intensity for an INDIVIDUAL depends where they are at, the way I was taught is during the burst you go as fast as YOU can go. That might not be the fastest you can go, but at this moment in time, that is fast for me. Give me a little time and I will be a lot faster, but DON'T judge me by what is high intensity for YOU.

I got really ticked off when the main thing I had to show for a solid year of doing HIIT (actually longer than that, but I was really into it for a year) was a hiatal hernia and a lot of pain, so I have not done much besides walking for the past year. I thought HIIT was going to be the thing that finally worked for me, it wasn't.

That doesn't mean I have given up, but since I am on a 1000 calorie/day diet, I can only do what I can do right now, so as I can do more, will do more, I still stop at 300 calories no matter what, I can only exercise a certain amount till I am out of this phase.

Also, my bike calculates speed, distance, calories burned and heart rate.
