Hungry, weak, tired, out of energy.

Hi guys, for the past few days I have been extremely hungry, tired, weak and fatigued. I am extremely depressed and despite me eating better and losing weight, I am absolutely miserable. I can't become full, and I don't want to binge and gain the weight I lost. However I am struggling to keep my composure. Even though the past 3 days I've kind of had things I wasn't supposed to (calzone, chinese food), I feel worse than ever.

I don't know what to do. Yesterday my work out was so hard because I was so weak and tired. I am starving, I just ate a pretty big dinner but I'm still starving. What do I do? This is hell, and I don't want to get back on the wagon.

Please, any help or advice I can get would be much appreciated.

Are you eating enough calories? Getting enough protein? Getting enough water?

Check out your nutrients. It could be an issue of a vitamin deficiency that's making you feel worn out, or what the other poster said. It's hard for us to pinpoint an issue like that without knowing you personally.

Eat "good" or "clean" or "healthy" (whatever those words mean to you) 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-controlled treats into your calorie goal. Deprivation can lead to binges.

Use the MFP protein & fiber goals as minimums, not maximums.

Sorry you feel bad, I went through a phase like that in the beginning. I think when we have a change in diet our system has to adjust, for me eating something like calzone would throw me way way off - I'm just saying

I would suggest eating more, eating more often but also check your serving sizes. If you feel fatigued you need to eat, you won't continue this if you don't feel good. Just give yourself some time to adjust.

Remember, listen to your body - the body always wins!

You logged 2500 calories of food yesterday - rest assured, you are not starving, and unless you've completely buggered up your macros, your body is not lacking anything.

I wish I had a sunshine and unicorns answer for you, but the bottom line is you're just going to have to suck it up...

I glanced at your diary, and you *seem* to be eating enough, but what are your TDEE and BMR?

I'm not sure what your goals are.. but if you're hungry to eat more.. add in salads and stuff that you can eat more of but spend less calories..

Are you sure 1800 calories is the right amount for you? that's about what i eat.. Men usually need more, especially if working out.

Protein always makes me feel better.. You eat more carbs then protein it seems. maybe try switching that up

You could be vitamin D deficient.. that was huge for me. get the bloodwork done and check it.

If eating less bigger meals isn't keeping you satisfied and full of energy, then try eating more smaller meals throughout the day. I pretty much eat all day.. which works for me better then 3 actual meals.

If you're new to exercise it might be normal to feel tired for the first week or so. I'm usually tired after I start a new regime for a week or so, until I get accustomed to it and adjust my eating accordingly.

Looking at your diary you need more protein. You should be eating a gram for every lb of lean body mass. Mine is 118, I'm betting yours is much more than that.

Protein will satiate you like no other food......eggs, meat, Greek yogurt, but eat lots of quality protein.

    1. Take a multivitamin daily.

    2. Make sure you get some form of exercise every day.

    3. Don't live this as a punishment. Your choices need to enhance your quality of life not imprison you.

    4. Plan your meals a day ahead. Make your food and fill out your diary one day ahead so you know what you will be eating the next day for all 3 meals and snacks.

    5. Eat more protein. Eat good quality stuff.

    6. Allow yourself some of your favorite foods as long as they fit your macros. When your macros are filled, you are done for the day.

    7. Drink more water. Even when you think you've had enough, drink one more cup.

    8. Changing your eating habits can cause a lot of psychological stress, which in turn can lead you to fall back in your old, familiar ways. Have a back up plan: a friend you can call, for example.

    9. Nobody said this was easy but most will tell you it is so worth it because YOU and your health are worth it.

    10. It's only hunger. Just remind yourself that it's only hunger. You won't die from it nor will you get sick from it. wait it out; your body is adapting to the new set of circumstances. Your mind will fight it because most of us don't like change. You are stronger than your feelings of hunger.

    11. Make sure you are getting adequate calories in your daily intake. If you are, just be patient and kind with yourself. After all, this is a new state of being. Soon you will learn to love this new way and we will read threads of how proud you are of your progress!

    12. You CAN do this. You really can.
