How likely is an initial gain?

I've been watching my intake, and exercising for a few days now... and while, no, I don't expect to see any significant loss yet (maybe a tenth of a lb or something, but not really even that)... I didn't really expect to gain either.

I weighed in a 206 two days ago, and weighed in today at 211. I'm seriously discouraged because it really sucks to see that number go back up after a four pound drop...

So, my question is this... is it common/normal to gain at first? Or could I possibly be doing something wrong?

Yes it does happen and it has happened to me. When you first start working out your body might end up retaining water. Just stick with it and it'll come off.

When you work out, your muscles hold to water in order to repair themselves...resulting in a temporary gain....just hang in there.:flowerforyou:

Weight loss is seldom a linear path.
It could be any number of things.
Scales are not perfect either they fluctuate with their frail springs

Plus you're female. Makes it way more likely for you to have water weight fluctuations.

I agree to just stick to a hopefully proper intake and trust in that for a while. Don't worry so much about the scale.
