Complete lifestyle makeover- Take 1

Hi all!

I usually never make New Years resolutions, but this time around, the bug bit me and I decided to go big or go home. Here's the modifications I've made so far:

Cut out caffeine completely from diet (may ease back in after the DTs are over). I went through 2 weeks of pure hell for this one, as I was at 8 to 10 cups of coffee a day for 10 years prior to this decision. So far I've been able to recover my sleep cycle, but my body still tries to tank at 6pm.

Cut way down on wine - I am limiting myself to 2 glasses 2 nights a week. I love wine, and it's a BIG calorie weight to carry. So... out with it!

Cut out Aspartame from my diet - Easy peasy so far. Just takes extra lable reading.

Lose weight - This is the hardest part, and the reason I started tracking here again. So far I've lost an inch off my waist since New Years, but I have a ways to go.

So that's it so far! I may add more on, like organic foods, more mercury free fish, etc. But for now, I'm not overloading myself.

  • Your goals are admirable!

I am, too, looking for a complete lifestyle change. I've cut out sugar and red meat so far, but that isn't the end! I'm hoping that slow and steady will indeed win the race.

I've just started on this site as well, but if you wanted to add me it'd be fun to have some people to be accountable to/with.

P.S. Wine is difficult, isn't it?!
  • Yes! Wine was seriously difficult! The caffeine was the worst though. I got flu symptoms and was out like a light for 4 solid days. Luckily I've found a good substitute with herbal coffee (even decaffeinated coffee has some).

Thank you for replying, I'd love to friend you! :)

Impressive changes to you both! I tried to cut out sugar once, but it didn't go great, may try again over the summer (when I work less).

    Keep up the positive changes!
  • I need an accountabilibuddy! I'm a biology tutor and test proctor who's going back to school to become a nurse. I hope to be my goal weight when I become a full time nurse! I have always struggled with my weight and need ideas on how to keep it off.
