Hello, I am 20 years old and have been over weight since jr.high when i started getting bullied. I am currently 244lbs right now and I'm 5'5". The whole time i was in High School I weighted 225lbs. then when i got out of High school i gained 25lbs extra instead of losing. I really need help to get this weight off! My biggest problem right now is my own self-esteem. I used to look at pictures of myself and think "yea, I might be bigger, but i still look cute." But lately i see pictures of myself and think "God, How can i look so bad!" I wont even let people take pictures of me anymore because i feel so fat. I'm planning on going to Disney World for my 21st birthday in July and i know i want pictures taken there, So my goal is to be down to 200lbs by Disney world then take the rest off after that. The problem is.. I have been trying since last October, and have only lost 8lbs. I have no support here. Noone wants to help me lose weight, everyone keeps saying im beautiful i shouldnt have to lose weight to feel pretty. But I do. If I'm not happy with how i look, i get depressed and then life just isn't fun or beautiful like it should be. Plus I am terrified of the health problems that could come. IT seems like every time i go to the doctors anymore they try to connect any problems im having to my weight (when its not related but it could be some day)... So please anyone that wants to talk, give me tips, help me out.. I would really be greatful!

Would you be comfortable setting your diary to public so that we can take a look?
Are you using a food scale yet? You can get one for less than $20 and they really do help with accuracy.
Are you exercising and if so are you eating back any of your workout calories? Are you using a heart rate monitor or gym/MFP estimates? MFP and cardio machines have a tendency to overestimate, so they may be adding too many calories to your goal.
Have you read the Sexypants thread yet? It's a lot of reading (and all of the linked posts are worth a read too) but full of good information to get you started: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants0 -
Go back to the basics. Log your food consistently and accurately - avoid eyeballing and guesstimating - actually weigh and measure as much as you can. As far as the health aspect of it goes, there's usually no need to go completely clean with your food choices but do try to eat a good healthy balance - fresh fruits, veggies, lean protein (meats, dairy, eggs), nuts.whole grains and the occassional treat. Also, try to exercise. Don't think of it simply as a weight loss tool but also as part of improving your health.
Not sure what your specific issues or health concerns are so hopefully this generic advice helps.0 -
I'm sorry you feel so bad about yourself. You're only 20 and the world should be your oyster right now! Good for you for wanting to make changes now though.
Have your doctors run tests to make certain there aren't underlying health issues affecting your weight? I'm thinking specifically about thyroid function but certainly there are other conditions out there.
Now it's time to use this diet yo help you. The number 1 thing you have to do is get son accurate diary of every single thing you put in your mouth. Get a food scale (digital) and weigh your good. This can be eye-opening in and of itself. Do you exercise at all? Walking is a great thing to do to start with.
It's so tempting to say "I'm going to stop eating "___" " and I'm going to exercise for an hour a day and ... Thorn it becomes overwhelming. I'm guessing you want nah weight loss to be permanent so you have to make changes you can sustain for the rest of your life. I personally will never give up pasta, bread or chocolate so I eat them now but make certain they fit in my calorie goal.
Take it a day at a time and good luck! And take pictures now!, I know you don't want to look at them but you will want to be able to see how much you are changing when the scale is mean to you. Plus you an use them as motivation!0 -

Hey hun. I have a similar story to this. It's very hard. Have you ever tried Plexus? First step is to rid yourself of depression.. which is always hard, but this helped me.0

Hi there. I have always been overweight as well. I was a size 9 in high school and when I was in college I gained so much weight. By the time I graduated on December 2012, I was a size 22. I started my journey last May and I have lost 40lbs. I started at 225lb and I am 185lbs right now. All trough college I tried to lose weight. I started diets but would give up a week later. This time I was able to stick with it because I hate how I looked in my graduation pictures. I wanted to look good for them, but in the end I wasn't able to lose the wieght before then, so I decided to make it work this time and I am so happy that I have accomplished this much. I am half way through my goal. I want to be at 140lbs.
If I can do it, anyone can!!!! What helped me a lot was the Insanity DVD workout. I highly recommed it. MFP has been my best friend. Logging in my food intake helped me with portion control and has made it so much easier to know how to eat without going over my daily calories.
Just know that it takes time. Dont stress yourself. Take one step at a time.
YOU CAN, AND WILL DO IT!!!!!!!0
