Can one's mindset prevent them from losing

Is it possible for one's outlook on weight loss to prevent them from losing weight?
I lost 25 lbs last year or so, gained back 10 lbs, and am committed to weight loss again. However, even though I stay within my calorie limits for MFP (1500 cals - track to lose 1.5 lbs / wk - 5'8" female - 234 lbs) and exercise, I'm not seeing a drop in my total pounds. I'm wondering if my feeling of defeat is starting to play a role in preventing my weight loss.
Anyone else experience this? Can our minds wield that much influence over our outcome?

Can you give it a month, keep eating the 1500, and then weigh again?0

I think the only mindset that can hinder weight loss is denial. We see this a lot in the forums, especially when it comes to the number of calories that are actually being consumed.0

Of course it can! Why work hard at exercise when you can just go through the motions and say you did it? It won't make a difference anyway. Why carefully measure your food if it really doesn't matter? You need to get your mind in the game to put your best effort forward. My negative mindset and feeling of defeat is what got me here. I will not let it take over ever again.0

Absolutely this ^^
If your mindset is causing you not to track accurately, then yes, you could think you're following your 1500 cal plan but not actually be doing so. But a defeatist attitude is not going to change the calories in/calories out equation.0 -

Agreed, a lot of people tend to forget the bites of this, and pieces of candy there that they ate during the day.
Or misjudging portion sizes, I still have to weight most things, since I'm often off.0
