I drink about 2 pints a day (not including the 1 coffee in the morning and maybe 3 cups of tea in the evening and fruit juice at lunch). Ok maybe TMI but I enter this all on my android phone but I don't know how big a cup is.

Also how many calories do you burn off having sex? Hehe ;)

1 cup = 8oz. which is about 1/2 a pint. Also, Coffee and tea do not count as water intake because of the caffeine in them. The calories burned while having sex depends on activity level and weight.

I think the only way Tea and Coffee work is if they are Caffeine Free... I used to do Weight Watchers and that is what they always told me.

A good rule of thumb? When in doubt drink 2 cups of water for every cup of coffee/Tea. You can also try to eliminate one or the other and drink water instead. Trust me, I know it's hard. I fill my coffee cup and water glass each time I go to the machine. If my water is not finished before my coffee, then I don't get any more coffee until the water is gone..... *Repeat* Phase out to water only after 12 noon.

Drinking low to moderate amounts of tea or coffee (or any caffeinated drink) is not going to dehyrdate you. Check this info out:
    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/caffeinated-drinks/AN01661

As long as you are keeping your daily consumption at just a few cups (keeping in mind that 1 cup = 8 oz and most coffee mugs are 1.5 to 2 cups worth) then you should be fine. Tea has even less caffeine than coffee. You may not get the full benefit of all the water from the cup of coffee/tea you are drinking, but it is not going to cause you to lose all that PLUS more water. (So you don't need to drink 1 cup of water for every cup of coffee/tea or anything like that).
  • Check around online for what counts as water intake, there is a lot of good, accurate, and professional information. Other than that, it seems everyone has a different opinion. I follow the information I found and if I drink it, it counts. Basic common sense! For example, if I have a 4 oz espresso and follow with a 4 oz of water, some people think I can only count the 4 oz of water. But, if I add the water to my espresso, I can't count it at all, because now it's part of a caffeinated beverage. I still drank the same, just in different ways... Anyhow, read the information you find and decide for your self what works best. Oh, and 1 cup = 0.237 liters
  • Well with what I'm currently drinking my pee is usually clear. I assume that the more fat I eat, the more water I'll need - does more fat dehydrate you? As for sex it depends on weight - what, mine or hers? Mmmm I guess it depends on what you get up to, right ;)

1 cup water is 8 ounces, I don't agree with the caffeinated drinks not counting thing.... I count them.

My opinion is that unless it's a super extreme sex session or something you rarely do, you shouldn't be counting it as extra calories because (for most people in a relationship) it's part of your normal activity and would be included in your base calorie settings.

but I believe it's listed in caloriesperhour.com if you wanted to go look it up

Base calorie setting? I add in my intake on a daily basis, surely all exercise should be included right, I mean its not like you spend any less than half an hour having sex right? If that's the case, should I also discount my 30 min brisk walk I take in the evenings?

You base calorie setting is the number of calories assigned to you by MFP when you filled out your profile with your age, sex, weight, and activity level - basically, the number of calories you are expected to eat/will burn to maintain your weight, and if you're trying to lose that would probably be 500 calories less than that number, not to be lower than 1200.

Ok the 1100 admittedly was during the evening and then practically all day the next day, though we did stop for a McD's and then Thai later on ( a quarter pounded cheese meal is about 800 calories).

I used the link kcollins posted above.
