Diets for "picky eaters"

I am a very picky eater and I don't really like trying new foods so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good meals besides veggies and fruits that would be basic and simple for me and my kids who can be picky as well?

My best suggestion is to find "healthier" ways to prepare the foods you like already. Instead of baking muffins with a lot of sugar and oil, why not try apple sauce or a banana. Instead of cooking with a lot of white rice/pasta, why not try whole wheat. Instead of cooking with full fat hamburger try 97/3 or even turkey burger (you can barely taste the difference, especially in spiced dishes like chili or tacos). You can hide veggies in a lot of things; pasta sauces, casseroles, and even baked goods.0

I'm a picky eater too, not a big fan of fruit and veggies either, so I blend fruit like bananas and strawberries into a smoothie in the morning with yoghurt and kale leaves to get my fruit intake up and I grate veggies (very finely) into meals like spaghetti bolognese, or soups. I've taken to making veggie soups like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KR44a_5v_A and putting a little greek yoghurt on the top with some pine nuts and (sometimes) bacon to make it more palatable.
If none of the above would work for you, then I'd just focus on protein that you do enjoy like chicken or fish. A bit of a catch 22 as you do need fruit and veggies to be truly healthy but very difficult when you don't like them.0 -
I started with broad categories like MEAT, FISH, VEG, FRUIT, STARCH, GRAINS, DESERTS
Then I made a list of all the foods I could think of, circled what I loved, put a line through things I hated.
What was left were things I loved, liked or "could deal with'
Then I looked at nutrition and picked the healthiest options from what I loved, liked and could deal with.
(BTW, Even if a circled food is unhealthy it is not eliminated, it may be a rare treat, and eaten sparingly, but not forbidden.)
Seeing it all written down made me realize that I had a lot more healthy options than I thought.0
