The juice diet!

I am looking for some advice about juice diets. My sister wants to lose weight, she did start calorie counting and doing things like 30DS (She has two very young children so getting out is difficult)
Anyway, she is looking in to a juice diet because he wants to see results quickly, which she says will make her eat better. She keeps being tagged in these photos on FB of people who sent in before and after photos with comments like "Lost 10lbs in 3 weeks!"
I don't really know much about juice diets and personally do not think they are any good, nor do I see how it can be a healthy way to lose weight.
So I am just looking for advice about it so I can advise my sister. Is it a good way to kick start your weight loss? Or just a quick fix that won't last?

In my personal opinion, I don't like fad diets, they may get the weight off quicker but maintaining weight loss is about changing lifestyle habits, getting rid of the crap in the cupboards so it isn't there to tempt you and buying non-processed healthy food and dropping weight at a reasonable pace.
I do remember reading an article a while ago (now I didn't follow up with any other research online) regarding fad diets increasing the prospects of type 2 diabeties due to the flucating levels of sugars in the blood (when you're on a fad diet and when you're not).
I also think they are too restrictive in what you can or can't eat and you then pack in the diet and gain whatever weight you've lost, I think it's the reason that weight watchers, Scottish Slimmers etc are really good as it changes your eating habits over time, no foods are restricted just the portions are restricted and being able to calculate points on each food means you don't fall into the trap of thinking you're eating healthy and still gaining weight (knew someone who couldn't figure out why they weren't losing weight but they were snacking on a big bag of pumpkin seeds every day, not realising that whilst they are healthy they are also very high in fats).0 -
As a form of modified fasting it's probably ok for a week, you get some nutrition from the juice but little protein or fats (unless avocado etc is blended in).
Fasting (modified or otherwise) is ok if you have plenty of fat to go at, but less so if you're at a healthy weight bothering about the last few pounds.0
