Ankles buckling when jogging, help!

Hi y'all. I've started jogging 5 days a week - about an hour mixed with fast walking (so in reality about 25mins jogging / 35 walking). But although my body is up for it and I don't even get a stitch, my ankles start to burn under the weight of my 16+ stone smashing into park concrete. It's frustrating because my legs, knees, lungs can go on for a lot longer but the ankles have other ideas. I don't know if it's cramp or if it's a build up of lactic acid, but it feels like a burn down the outside of my ankle area that forces me to stop and limp walk.

Are there any exercises I can do on the ankles pre-run to let them know what I'm expecting of them?!
Thanks.

First off, stop running on concrete and run on dirt or grass for now. It sounds like your joints are not up to par yet with your running routine. Getting yourself hardened GRADUALLY is important to keep yourself running injury free.

Yes! Running on concrete makes me feel like every time I land I'm stressing my joints.

Also, I haven't been at this very long, but everything I've read says you should have a day off in between runs, and do some other, lower impact activity the other days. (I'm not always good at adhering to this, but if I do 2 days in a row, I try to make one of those runs much slower and/or shorter.)

I have the same problem. I agree with the "stop running on concrete" idea. My body can't take that, but even asphalt is 100x better for me than concrete. I have found that the longer (months, years, etc, not minutes on a particular day) I run, the better it gets. Maybe running itself is strengthening my ankles? Just don't overdo it.
