Beginners workout for guys

Hey there,
my boyfriend asked me this weekend to join me in my workouts (we have a small gym room with basic weights and stuff in our students dorm).
On thursday we will have our first workout together and he asked me to recommend a beginners workout plan.
When I started exercising again this year after a motivation break, I just put together some exercises.
( I do squats, lunges, push-ups, tricep dips, planks, donkey kicks, good mornings, bent over rows and deadlifts).
For my boyfriend, I thought that
squats
push ups
planks
deadlifts
rows
are also great, with the other exercises I am not quite sure (as I think, donkey kicks for the great butt seem to be more of a "girly" exercise).
I'd love to have some input by you, what else he could try.

There are no "men's " workouts. Or "girls" workouts.
A work out is a work out. either it's effective or it's not. The presence of a penis or vagina does not impact the overall effectiveness of an exercise.
What's good for the goose- is good for the gander.
But if you think your work out is to "girly" perhaps you should change yours to be something more meaty and progressive- if you are doing it- he should be able to do it.0 -
StrongLifts 5x5
Starting Strength
Those would be the two best, after reviewing videos or visiting a trainer to ensure good form. You have most of the lifts on your list there, with the exception of bench.
And yeah... there are just "workouts" they are not gender specific, only person specific based on what your goals are, and what your body is able to do.0 -
check out Starting strength, or stronglifts 5x5. perfect for beginners as long as he can get the form down. both programs start very light for this reason.0

Another one for Stronglifts 5x5 or Starting Strength.

SL or SS for sure. Although I heard NROL is good as well.
Also, as others said, men and women workout the same.0 -
Depends on what his goals are0

Absolutely. And if he wants a bit more work, once he has the main lifts down, he should take a look at ICF 5x5. Same as Stronglifts but with some additional assistance work.0 -
Thanks for all the answers!
I think, we'll both start the stronglift 5x5. It sounds amazing!0
