How to lose weight while taking methimazole

I have hyperthyroidism, but I am overweight. My endocrinologist put me on 10mg methimazole about one year ago. My thyroid levels are still slightly hyper.
For thefirst time since starting the medication I have been trying to lose weight. I am frustrated because I have not lost weight for a week. Prior to starting this medication I could lose weight easily. I'm pretty sure that isdue to my hyperthyroidism. Now I am Not sure what to do. Does anyone have any experience with losing weight and also taking methimazole?
