Convenience Store NSV

So today I left work to do an overdue work errand in a terrible mood. As I was driving into town I came upon the local convenience store. I had this 20 second internal argument with myself. Do I stop or do I drive by to the bank and do the deposit? I argue with myself saying I will stop and get a coffee, but what is the voice in the back of my mind saying? Get some chips! I have been holding true for a couple of days and didn't want to mess this day up too. However, the voice in my head kept saying "stop, get something you shouldn't". I mindlessly stopped at the store and walked in. On auto pilot I walked past the coffee and through the chip isle to the juice cooler. I stared at my choices and after looking at a label or two I choose a unsweetened iced tea. I purchased my item and left the store. Once I got in my car I realized I had made a decent choice and enjoyed the treat. I didn't end up chowing down a bag of hot chips and felt like a hog. Small victory for some, but a huge step forward for me. I intend to continue with better choices and try to remember how it felt to give myself something but with thought and consideration for the bigger goal. For me, this was a huge victory. I have been fighting these cravings and weaknesses for quite a while. I intend to continue with this mindset and hope others will find some inspiration in my victory today.

I'm proud of you! That really is a big accomplishment. That is coming from someone who used to feel powerless over cravings. I know exactly how you feel; when you finally realize that you DO have control :) Keep up the good choices
