If you're using MFP's default numbers, many of us think that the protein goal on the site is set too low already. It may not affect your weight loss, but getting adequate protein helps to repair and rebuild your muscles. If you don't get enough you could be losing lean muscle mass along with the fat.0

you should ideally eat about 1g/lb of lean body weigh of protein.
Will it affect the scale weight? no. Will it affect your fat loss? yes.
When you don't have enough dietary protein, your body uses your muscle as a source of energy, so you lose more muscle along with the fat. When you eat enough protein, you lose more fat, thus becoming more lean as opposed to "skinny fat" that would be the likely result from low protein diet.0
