Stuff needed for home DVDs

Due to this weather and my new work schedule I'm seriously considering home DVD's. It sounds like I should know this but I don't. 1) Do you think I will need a pad to work out on or should I just use my carpet. It's a thicker carpet but will it wear out? I'm just concerned about using a mat and restricting me to staying on that. 2) Do you wear shoes when you do home dvds? I'm starting P90 if that makes a difference. And will then attempt turbofire maybe. Any help in this area is great. Thanks guys!

I have done both, carpet is totally fine, don't worry about a mat. I would suggest wearing supportive foot wear, especially for cardio! Good luck!0

I typically just work out on my carpet. It's thick & we just put it in & it holding up fine. I don't wear shoes, but I would recommend wearing shoes.0

I found Insanity to be a good home workout because it didn't require any additional equipment. I did buy a mat though, since my floor is hardwood, and did my workouts barefoot on the mat. Wearing shoes was too noisy and barefoot on the hard floor hurt my feet. If you do get a mat, make sure it's got good grip so you don't slip! I also did a few workouts at my parents' home barefoot on the carpet and was completely fine
