You have to want this . . . I mean WANT this . . . get to the point that it consumes you and is just something you must do. You have mentioned it now just lead by example. When he sees how amazing you are doing you can talk about it again, plus if you have the instance to share a meal together you can talk about healthier choices and this tool then as well.
As much as people we care about would really benefit from this site and some lifestyle changes . . . you really have to want it personally first.

Something like, I use this website called Myfitnesspal.com and it's totally awesome! it helps me keep track of what I'm eating, what exercise I'm doing it has graphs and charts that I can look at to gauge how I'm doing too, and a really great supportive community of men and women. You should check it out!" Then just back off because no one would want to be badgered and in the end the decision would rest with him.

I tried suggesting MFP to my mom. She wasn't interested, until she saw me drop 30 lbs! Then she was ALL about MFP LOL

Lead by example, mention it casually, and when your results start showing up in amazing ways, he'll be interested!!
  • im not sure. my bio father has weight issues and its so bad it's affecting his health. hes on a lot of meds, and everything. he has bone problems, and isses with blood clots. he stays in so much pain that pain meds dont even work on him! they want to do a procedure on his spine. its supposed to help termendously. but they dont think he would survive being put under due to his weight, and they dont think he can go without certain meds. so he has to lose weight first. but the part that sucks is that with all his health issues it makes it hard for him to get up and move around, so losing weight is almost as hard on him as all his other health problems.
sorry im babbling. my point was that i was kinda wandering the same thing. i wanted to suggest MFP to him but didnt want to sound like i was saying "hey dad, your a fat *kitten*. do something about it!"

if he's that bad off, he could start by moving his arms and lifting his legs,(even while sitting or lying) and drinking more water, taking a daily vitamin, and eating better. Guilt might work, say Do it for me I want you around to see your great grandkids.
