How Ya Doing?? (The State of Mental)

There is alot to be said for one's mental state, when involved with weight loss, or physical fitness. While Anorexia, and Bulimia are very real disorders that require professional treatment. I'm more concerned here with Stress, Depression, and Sleep disorders. These three have been determined in many studies and reports to be some of the biggest barriers involving weight gain, plateaus, and giving up and quitting.
Part of the reason I preach the sleep thing (6-8 hrs minimum a night) is not only because it is "repair time" for your body, but it's also time to let your mind rest. I am finding that more and more sleep lets me wake up in a better "state" Also just as important, I always believed that I could not sleep without my TV on. This was because if I was in a dark quiet room, I could not sleep because I would lay there and go completely insane with financial, personal, and work deadlines. I finally came up with a compromise. The sleep timer on the TV allows me to fall off with the noise, but the timer is set for no longer than 30 minutes. ( Yes this works for me) Dark rooms for sleeping are REALLY important. I even have to cover the blue glow lights on my CPAP machine. The more I read about even the "littlest" light will disrupt good deep sleep. While I can't confirm or deny scientifically, I can tell you, I sleep pretty damn good! (12 hrs last night)
Stress, and Worry.... These are my number 2 and 3 killers. (number 4 is food!) I am learning to pray more, reminding myself that I am but one person. and more importantly reciting, and LIVING the Serenity Prayer quite a bit more than previous. "God, Grant me the serenity, to ACCEPT the things I cannot change (right at this very moment) The COURAGE to change the things I can (so I will) and the WISDOM to know the difference, (SO I don't drive myself insane trying to fix what I can't)
To summarize:
Get a good nights sleep, worry less. Fix what you can, put the rest aside until you can fix them, and cut yourself a little slack!! Remember, you probably didn't put this much effort into you until now!! It takes time! I Believe in you!! Share this with anyone who needs it... Friend me if you want... I'm not the perfect one on this deal, just another one like you who wants change! //Lee
