What's your opinion on celebrity workout schedules that you find online on sites like popworkouts.com etc.

Stupid or worth looking into?

Just would like to know what you guys think!

Personally, my initial reaction is "buyer beware!" -- I suppose they are interesting to read or maybe even try out with doctor supervision if need be -- but I would take them with a grain of salt and not expect the same result. A lot of famous people lie about their regimens and are often under pressure to look a certain way so they resort to unhealthy habits in private (drugs, eating disorders) and also have cosmetic surgery options readily available.

Just a few months ago, pop singer Kesha was on the cover of this magazine discussing health and her regimen. Just months later she has entered treatment for an eating disorder.

Things aren't always what they seem!

Does the idea of a celebrity doing a workout make you want to do it too? If so, good. I'm in favor of people being motivated.
  • I think they have to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Otherwise they have no credibility and its just another money making scheme...

Waste of time. The only pounds you will really lose are from your wallet. Celebrities make videos with outrageous claims backed up by their friendly, recognisable face to make out as if they are genuine. Titles such as "30 second slim", "3 month weight loss" give the impression that it is easy to lose weight. Of course, none of them are telling the whole truth.

It is impossible to lose weight from 30 seconds exercise. More likely, the celebrity who lost the weight went through a gruelling, unhealthy and obsessive regime and almost starved themselves. Then they charge for the false privilege of watching one of their cack videos.

Besides, there are loads and loads of free workout and fitness videos on YouTube and similar websites, from PROPER fitness individuals who look like they are worthy of making a genuine career out of fitness, rather than a dumb celeb whose claim to fitness and health is because they have been pictured in the paper doing exercise for a couple of months because they gorged on donuts over the summer.

A celebrity who has ample time on their hands to give maximum effort every workout and also workout for 5 or 6 hours a day will obviously show amazing results.
Now translate that for someone with a job, kids and other commitments that put a huge dent into their valuable time and you've got something that normal folk have absolutely no chance of emulating.
It's not about giving the punters valuable and insightful information that could really help them, it's about fleecing as much money as possible out of the mindless sheep who devour this drivel all the time.
