Bored!

Hello, This is my first day here. I heard about this site and it seems to have a lot of great success stories. I have been on Weight Watchers in the past, but for some reason, this time I am not doing so well with it. I thought I would give this a try. My main problem tends to be "bored eating" I am hoping to make some friends and become healthy and lose this weight!

I had/have this same problem! I got really serious about losing weight before summer and since I started tracking EVERY SINGLE THING I put in my mouth on MFP, I've gotten MUCH better at avoiding bored eating because I know I'll have to enter it and it will look bad, plus put me over my calories.

When I feel that "need to eat" but not hungry feeling, I drink a huge glass of water and then find something to do, it helps! Good luck!

On the "Bored Eating"...make a list of things you want to do each day & try to go from one to the next without a break, except for regular meal breaks of course. When you start reaching for the food when you know you shouldn't, reach for the list instead, maybe even tape it to the fridge. If you don't have enough things to keep you busy, then start some new hobbies...learn a foreign language w/a computer program, read a book, take up a craft, but find things to DO other than eat.

I'm sort of the opposite, the times I'm most likely to overeat is when I get so busy that I forget to eat until I'm ravenous, then am just grabbing whatever's handy instead of really going for healthy.

    All the best to you!

You're already almost half way to goal! Yay!

I'm a bored eater too. When I feel that urge coming on, I do a couple of things: clean the house...organize a drawer or closet...or go for a walk. The walking is the easiest. Even just 15 minutes of quick walking helps!
