How much is enough?

I know more is always better, but let's be real here, sleep is something I can never seem to get enough of...I'm a mom, wife, CEO of my household (by choice), and I work full-time with a 1.5 hour commute each way. I know sleep affects weight loss, so what is the general recommendation of sleep needed in order to rest the body and aid in regulating metabolism, muscle growth and repair, ect. I have a feeling that my lack of sleep is part of the reason i'm not losing as much weight as I'd like to even though I'm carefully tracking and consistently exercising.

You need 7.5 to 9 hours of sleep a night.

I feel your pain, I have the same issue. Single dad 1.5 hour commute both ways. The hardest part is finding time to get a work-out in, between my long drive, work, dinner and dishes I have very little time to myself. I struggled with the concern of not getting enough sleep but finally just decided the value of exercise and eating healthy was still important. I do what I can to fall asleep as early as I can, adding to the struggle is the fact I have to wake up at 3:30 just to get my work-out in. On a good night I get about 5 hours a sleep, I am sure its effecting my progress to a certain point. I know this really didn't answer your question but just know you are not alone.

They say between 7-9hrs a night

Personally I always aim to sleep 9 hrs a night, I can manage with 8hrs, but anything under that and I turn into a cranky monster

    7-9 is the goal.

I feel your pain- I have almost none of the demands you have except working full time and even though I try my best I get about 6.5 average...which is a MAJOR upgrade from the 3-4 I was getting 18 months ago. I've had to really prioritize sleep as a goal.

It is comforting to know I'm not alone out there and you are a single dad! If I were a single mom, I'd probably get 2 hours of sleep a night so kudos to you for keeping it all together and still trying to be the best and fit Dad you can be! (applause)
