Time to lose the Quit Smoking weight.

I was always one of those eat drink anything people until I hit my late 40's, 3 years back i did Atkins and got rid of 35 pounds and got to my goal of 170 at the time. Went to the UK and started drinking beer again (how could i not in the pubs and i love a good ale) and then last summer I quit smoking after 40 years (I'm 53) that packed a few pounds on as well and by just before Christmas I was 224. I quit drinking before Christmas (knowing that was coming with a diet anyway), and toned down the food intake a little, January 2nd I started up on Atkins again at 218.3., Since I wasn't happy with my early result compared to last time I've adjusted and started tracking here and eat qa modified atkins but am targeting my intake and measuring exercise. I walk 7 Kilometers a day now home from work and when the snow/ice goes I'll start cycling both ways (another thing i'd let slide when the weight crept back)
Like the app, the integration and numbers via apps like measure my walk are way out of wack (it gave be a 2400 calorie burned in 45 minute 7 km walk, not close to reality from what I can see . Anyway not sure how much I will hang around the forums but I will pop in and ask for info possibly. Goal this time is 165-170 by the end of May (5'10.5") and I'll treat myself to a sharp tailor made suit (the old Mod in me comes out)

  • Hi, I gave up smoking October 1st last year with Stoptober, I have put just over a stone on & decided enough is enough! Started exercise etc at the beginning of this month but only found this App last week. 4lb down since Christmas & going strong!
Before I gave up smoking I could eat / drink whatever & not put much on & I hovered at a stable weight.

I found the app late too. Replaced the battery in my scale and realized the weights I've been getting are wrong. Still I could estimate i've lost 15 pounds or so since Christmas. For a long time I could eat/drink what I liked as well. A job change that cut my activity along with getting fed at work (I moved to a job with a hotel) combined with age I guess has meant a struggle to get it off and keep it off. Good luck with your goals
