Those of you with a Weight Watchers Scale

Just curious about something:

Each time I have gotten on the scale to weigh myself I 0.0 it out. The first weight that it registers is 181.7. I clear it out then I get on again and it went down to (today) 176.4. The 181 is consistent. I re-weighed myself like 4x and it came up as 176.4 each time.

I am wondering why it's doing that? Anyone else have this issue? It's the Conair one that does that body fat, bone density, hydration as well as the weight.

Okay ... cool was wondering about that. I already threw away the box for this scale :( so hope BBB takes it back if next week it does the same thing. I don't want to keep weighing myself every day hahaha. I will see what it tells me in 7 days :)

    Anyone else?
  • I'm not certain why that happens. I have a Weight Watchers scale that does the same thing. I usual apply the rule I learned many years ago in a Chemistry class, measure three times and if the same number come up three times, then that's the number you go with. Not sure if that's helpful but it's worth a try.

A BFF once told me. "the scale may lie to you from time to time but the one thing that will NEVER lie to you are your CLOTHES" So, that's pretty much how I gage my weightloss.

Good Luck with your goals and please keep me posted on resolutions of the scale thing.

Diamond .... yeah I am going to keep that rule of thumb in mind which is what I did this morning

SugarDiva ... interesting. I will have to see if it becomes a problem then I will exchange it. I really like this scale.

Right?! I mean I guess if I go on next week and it says 181 lbs again, I am jumping off and resetting! I may buy a new battery because even though those things are "protected" while in the box who knows how old they actually are!
  • I've had it very too with the WW scale. Make sure you are on an absolutely flat service. That has helped me get the same answer each time. I usually step on and off a couple times too just to make sure.

also make sure you stand in the same spot on the scale and stay still. i find that if i shift my weight at all it throughs it off.

Becky thanks :) and thank you for putting your height on your signature as well!

I try to place it on the same place on my kitchen floor. I will do what you (and others say). I really REALLY like this scale!

So ... I jumped on the scale this morning (yeah I know ... but I wanted to test it) and it had a correct read. Maybe I will call Conair to see if it's a setting that shows your last weight first when you get on that I am not aware of. I swear I don't see anything in the manual for it.

I don't have any luck with digital scales! If only I could find a mechanical scale like at the Dr's office, but that didn't cost in the triple digits!

I just bought that same scale from BB&B. I haven't had too many issues with it. Sometimes it will "remember" my weight from the last time I stepped on it. I jut move it to a new location, tap it to zero it out, and then weigh myself again. That usually takes care of it. However when I'm weighing in the morning, it will give me the same number a few times in a row, and it's always +/- 0.1 from what my regular old digital scale tells me. That's the best way that I can judge if it's on target or not. I rarely have issues where I have to move it and reset it.

Okay that seems to be Par on Course for this scale. I will just stick with it then. I try to place it on the floor in the exact same spot in the kitchen (which is where my laptop is and I have more room in the kitchen the the bathroom to weigh).
  • So glad I found this post. I just bought this same scale about 2-3 weeks ago and I have been so disappointed! I spent $40 on this scale...definitely not the cheapest one at BBB. It keeps telling me I weigh less than I know I weigh....then I get to work and weigh myself but it's of course, not upon awakening (you know what I mean). I threw the box away too, thinking, for this price, it's gotta be a good one.....hmmmm

I'm thinking it's got a bit of a memory on it

I will weigh myself clothed. then naked...and the number wont change. but if I wait about 10 minutes and weigh in naked...the number will change. Drove me nuts until I sort of just assumed that must be the reason.
  • I have the same scale and it happens to me all the time ... it matters where I put it in my room my floor is a lil uneven(old hardwood). I also think it does store the last weigh in. I tap it to zero then weigh myself (first number always highest) then I get off and on two to three more times and go with that number. Seems to be accurate with the scale at the doctors office.

Yeah it was SUPER annoying. I returned it (without the box) to BBB and got an Eat Smart one from Amazon. Tomorrow is my second weigh in with that scale. I also have the analog scale as a fail safe hahaha.

I am having trouble with mine. The weight fluctuations are pretty radical sometimes and it makes me wonder what the truth even is? After nearly three weeks on this plan, I don't know if I started at 332lbs or 326lbs... and I don't know if I really weigh 320lbs or 323lbs... either way, the whole thing irritates me.

I do feel better and can feel a slight difference in my clothes though so I suppose that should be enough. I just wish I had a scale I could trust 100%.

Our Weight Watchers does exactly the same thing. That's because it's a complete piece of crap cheap scale that the manufacturer paid a licensing fee to slap a WW sticker on it. My wife picked it up when she was on WW.

The important part, though, is to have a comparison number. I simply weigh myself on it and take the FIRST reading regardless of what it is. I'm sure it's not completely accurate but I don't need medical-grade accuracy to measure a trend.
  • Mine did that when I first bought it. I changed the battery and it has been consistent ever since and doesn't do that anymore.

My WW scale works fine. Once or twice it's thrown a funny number at me, but I just zero it out and get an accurate reading. I have noticed that if my feet are hanging over or I don't position myself in the center it will be off though. Also make sure it is on a flat surface. I also don't leave it on the floor, It is sitting on its side until I'm ready to use it. Then I place it on the floor and zero it out for an accurate reading.

I know it is accurate because I weighed myself and later that day at the doctor I got the same scale reading. I also only weigh myself at the same time every time of day (first thing in the morning). If I weigh myself later in the day it will go up a pound or more sometimes depending on what I've eaten, water, exercise, etc. But in the morning it's back to normal.

It is an electronic device, that isn't to say there isn't a batch of lemons out there!
  • I haven't had a problem with mine--I always put it in the same spot on the floor (but our floor is wooden and there are no bumps to make it not-level). I have "User 1" set to be me and it never stores my weight. I just tap User 1, wait for it to flash to 0.0 and get on. I wonder if, like other posters mentioned, it is the battery?

You must make sure you're on an absolutely flat surface. My WW scale used to be all over the place until I found somewhere completely flat for it.
  • If your floor isn't pretty much perfectly even, you'll have this problem. I know I do! I weigh myself and when I get a consistent number multiple times, I log it

I don't have the fancy ww scale yet.. but I want one, I have just a ww glass scale that tells me my weight. I notice when I share it with other people like my husband it isn't very accurate. I take the batteries out step on it one time and then one more time and then it is seems to be accurate.
  • I have one and its rubbish, I go to slimming world now so dont use it but if I do weigh myself at home it never tells me the same weight and tells me different weights straight after each other, take it back
