Hi
Anyone else trying to lose weight for IVF treatment? My BMI needs to be down to 29.9 before the doctors will refer me and my husband. I was at this a year ago and then gave up smoking. Substituted the cigarettes for food and am now at 31.49. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?

We're not looking at IVF, but I'm hoping that continued weight loss will help us with fertility. Good luck0

I hope everything goes well for you.
I just want to remind you about adoption. So many wonderful children need wonderful parents like you!
Please consider adoption as an option for your family.0 -
Adoption is the route we will go down if the IVF doesn't work. Thanks :-)0

Just want to say good luck! We tried IVF and failed, but we had bad quality embryos, so we went the adoption route instead (we only had enough money left for one or the other). I never bothered losing weight for it at the time though.0

Hey, we're not looking into IVF, but I DO have PCOS which means when my husband and I DO want to start a family (which will be in the next year or so) we might have a hard time conceiving. I haven't had a period in 18 months, I haven't been to see a specialist or anything yet but I plan on it as soon as our health insurance is stable and we can afford the copays. I know my PCOS-related side effects and lack of a period are directly related to my weight so my motivation to lose is for my overall health AND the ability to start a family...0

Just want to say good luck on your IVF. Have you had the doctor check to see if you have PCOS because if so there are meds out there that do help on top of weight loss. I wish you the best of luck. I have PCOS myself and did IVF twice. We have since adopted two children that are siblings.0

Same. I see the doc next week, hoping to try Clomid.0 -
We are not as far as IVF yet. But TTC since 8/2012 and in 3/2013 my doctor told me I needed to loose weight to conceive. I have PCOS and that affects me a lot. I started to in April 2013 loosing weight and lost 40 pounds and still not pregnant. We are trying our 2nd round of Clomid as soon as I start my period again ... when that decides to come, with PCOS it comes when ever it feels like most of the time every 3 month. My OBGYN said if it doesn't happen this go round he will up the dosage. Fingers crossed it works!! Im sending lots of baby dust your way it's devasting not knowing and wanting a baby but cant! Good luck!0

Thank you for all of you replies. I have been tested for PCOS but all clear. I'm hoping that with the weight loss it will help us. My husband has fertility problems and I do get cysts on my ovaries (but not to the extent of PCOS). Thanks for the dust bpswife! Sending back at you all. Watch this space I guess... X0

You can Give Birth to your Adopted Child. Wish I had known about Snowflakes Embryo Adoption. It's not for everyone but would have been perfect in my case.

I am trying to get some weight off, because I am fearing that it is effecting my fertility. It seems as though I am ovulating late. I am so mad at myself for gaining back the weight I lost for my wedding. It is hard to get the weight back off now! I saw someone mentioned PCOS...I heard about the medicine that can help weight loss with that. Should I talk to my doctor if I am seeing that I am ovulating late in my cycle?0
