I'm worried that I'm not doing my diet and exercise right. I have only been at this for a couple of weeks. I'm trying to walk at least three times a week two miles at a time. I take water aerobics twice a week. I have been hitting under 1200 on my calories and I know that this is not good.. Today I changed it up and had a protein shake before I went to do my 2 miles. This week I'm trying to get in 10000 steps a day. I'm wondering what my really calorie intake should be. I know that 2 lb a week is really not ideal but that is what I would like. I know that if it doesn't happen it is not the end of the world. Is there any where that might give me a routine to working out that works or is my walking going to be enough for right now. I have bad shoulders so right now lifting weights seem to mess with them to much. I have been walking with 1 1/2 weights on my wrists. I don't want to fail at this I want to get healthy and stay that way.

Well, it sounds like u are doing good on exercise. Walking is great and so are water aerobics. U definitely need to get your 1200 in a day, otherwise your body will "hold onto" the calories u r putting in. It'll think its in starvation mode. Some folks try to eat back their exercise calories (I personally don't see the sense in that, the idea is to burn extra, right?) I've heard others talk about "storing up calories" from day to day (I dont' believe in that either, when your day is done, it's done. Your body doesn't say "hey, I've got calories from yesterday still). I was eating 1200 and only going over by 25 at the most daily. I was exercising and not losing weight. It was discouraging! One of MFP friends suggested I go to 1300 a day andsee if that helped. It did...so on days I exercise, I will allow myself no more than 1300. I dont' know what u r eating to get to the 1200 either. It was suggested to me to keep protein high (I shoot for over 100) and net carbs low (I shoot for under 50). Of course, watch your sodium, can make u retain water. Drink lots of water!! I know it says 8, but I try for 16 a day. Now i'm no expert, these are just some of the things I've tried before and they've helped. I'm sure there are others on here who will have a ton of ideas. Good luck!!0
