Hi, all
My subject pretty much sums up who I am. I am married to my best friend who is a coach, and we have 6 kids - two in college, one in high school, one in middle school, one in elementary, and one in daycare. I need to lose 30 lbs. I have difficulty with staying motivated. 3 weeks in and 9 weeks in are my two breaking points where I usually shut down and quit and revert back to old ways.
I was reading (ok, honestly - listening to an audio book during my 45 minute commute to work) a bible study "Made to Crave" and she insists on the benefit of accountability partners. SO..... I'm here shopping

Hi!
I'm on a mission to invent the 40 year-old me. I'm 37 and time is just ticking away. I know it's not going to get any easier. I just need to do it.
I met my husband in college and we have been married for 15 years. He is trying hard to keep in good shape and is doing a great job. He goes to the gym 4 days a week and plays pick-up ball a couple of days a week. I have been taking care of babies for a few years and am ready to get out and do more adventuring. I love rock climbing, but I haven't done it in years. I am a big fan of yoga, but haven't done it regularly in years, either. I would love to be able to climb with my kids.
Exercise for me, most days is push ups etc. and playing with my kids (dancing, carrying kids around, giving piggy backs up and down stairs, walking hills (not enough)). I have one hour long gymnastics (tumbling) class for adults weekly. I love it. I started it about a year and a half ago, not able to do round-offs well. Now I can do a standing back handspring (not very well) and a respectable, but inconsistent round-off back handspring.
My downfall is stress eating. It's a pattern I can trace back to my childhood.0 -
Girl! Are we connected at the stomach? I am an emotional eater. I eat when I'm happy - to celebrate, when I'm sad - to comfort, when I'm stressed - to regain control.
I'm a mess, and my body's showing it.
My husband is built like a Greek god - shaking my head. He played college football, and has kept himself up.
I'm with you as far as kids coming first and... then me just being too tired after all that.
I tell him that when he comes home his job is over. I still have to cook dinner, homework, clean and then try to find time and energy to work out.
Tired, but ready to stop making excuses....0 -
