Does eating 1 or 2 meals a day screw metabolism?

I've heard soo many different answers to this. What's the deal?
Back then it was bad to not eat periodically during the day, now i've been seeing more and more topics about intermittent fasting and/or only eating big meals breakfast and dinner everyday.

I stopped doing two big meals a day (which i liked) bc my trainer told me it was going to screw up my metabolism pretty good.

    Eating small meals spread out throughout the day is a myth. I eat 1-2 meals a day, always have for the longest time. Check up on intermittent fasting, it works for lots of people!

    i didn't think it would mess up my metabolism, but the fact that my own personal trainer told me that it would and looking at a few posts on the boards saying it would/wouldn't had me a little confused. Lol
