I'm going out with my friends for Thai food tomorrow night. I've never had Thai before, and I was wondering what people would suggest that's healthy but not spicy (I am an absolute wimp when it comes to spice!)
This is the place I'm going - http://www.spalace.co.uk/spMenu.htm - so if anyone is willing, could you have a look at the menu and recommend things for me please? Thanks muchly :)

Get a stir fry with a lean protein and don't eat too much rice. The Kra-pow is a favorite of mine, with chicken

Mild - yellow - curry with brown rice. The coconut milk makes it calorie dense so watch portion size but if you get it with a protein that and the rice should fill you up. Noodle dishes can be mild (pad thai) but the white rice noodles aren't the best, for me at least. Too many calories and not filling enough.

I love Thai. That menu looks quite good.

I would avoid the curries. The green and yellow curries are mild but contain coconut cream, so are quite calorific. The red curries are lighter but will be hot.

I would also avoid fried rice or noodles, including Pad Thai. Stick to a small amount of jasmine rice or sticky rice with your mains.

If you are ordering in true Asian fashion, the table will order several mains to share. Make sure there are some light choices among them. Any of the steamed fish dishes, or grilled dishes will not be calorie dense. Also Som Tam, Laab and Yum Nua from the salad section will be very light. But ask them to reduce the amount of chilli in the salad dishes, as normally they would be quite hot. Thai salads are dressed with a sweet dressing that is oil free, so very light.

Thai stir fries are less greasy than Chinese. I would avoid the sweet and sour, just in case it is done Cantonese style (deep fried breaded meat that is stir fried in sauce afterwards). Though a typical Thai style sweet and sour will not be deep fried.

The only starters on that menu which doesn't seem high in calories are 17 and 8.. Everything else is either deep fried, comes with garlic butter or satay sauce (peanut sauce).

I didn't see the menu, but if you like nuts and it's available, try Massaman curry. Oh my word, it's delicious. I am not a big curry fan in general but Massaman curry is my favorite food.
I like mine spicy but pretty much any curry dish can be made mose or less spicy based on your preference. They will usually ask you how spicy you want it.
