I bought the FT4 because it is cheap. Have had to send it back twice for warrantee repairs twice within 10 months due to problems with the transmitter. That said, the service for Polar is great and warranty is 2 years.

I have the FT4, have had it for almost 2 years with no problems. Every now and then my heart rate will be way off but it usually works correctly. Like I will be in yoga and it will say my heart rate is 200. Not even close! But it usually rights itself.

I was debating the same choice a few weeks ago. I decided to go with the FT4 because I didn't need it to wirelessly upload the data anywhere. Between my fitbit and MFP, I have enough data. I just wanted to be able to record my calorie burns in MFP. It is doing exactly what I need it to do and I actually figured out how to use it in very little time.
