Starting Again

My name is Brittany and I'm nineteen years old and I've finally had enough. Technically I started around Thanksgiving/Christmas of 2009 at around 220 pounds. I went to the doctor around that time and was literally in shock that I weighed that much cause I definitely didn't think I looked as if I weighed that much. The first 30 pounds came off really quickly, without really exercising. But around May, the weight loss kind of stopped, and that's when I started going to the gym. I started out going five days a week and really loving it. However, I had to take a two week break from the gym for personal reasons (bad idea!), and now it's been really hard to get back into it. I also have had a bit of trouble eat more healthy foods lately.
Now, I have decided I really want to do this for real now. I want to be a healthy weight, something that I haven't been since elementary school. I have motivation and determination. I feel that if I post this, having you all read this will keep me accountable.
Oh and for reference, I am around 172 at the moment, and I have been this weight for about a month. My first goal is to be 155 which would officially put me in the normal weight category according to my BMI (not the best form of measurement, I know).
*sorry if it's a bit jumbled*

Hi Brittany - good for you. Sounds like you have made great progress and do have the motivation and determination. All of us on the site are rooting for you and each other. So, GO BRITTANY! You're way past half way to your goal weight, so I'm sure you can pick up the gym again (even if not 5 days a week) and keep counting and making progress. Best wishes for success!

Hi Brittany, I've been starting and stopping myself and this time is and will be that last, I am sooo tired of being overweight and am completely discussed with myself. I found that posting on here and having friends is a real big help. I had signed on to this site back in '08 and didn't have any connections with anyone. But this time, since last month I've made connections and it is working out a lot better.
Best of luck, I know you can get to your goal. I know it's hard getting back into the routine of exercising but just take one day at a time.

WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great step!:drinker:
You said some key things, you liked exercise. Run with that! (bad pun intended:noway: ) because if you can find something awesome in that your battle is less than those of us who HATE exercise...yup, I hate it. uh huh...wish I didnt...
Also if you work out your body will be a great shape...losing weight is not the only deal...you want that bod...and if you work out, you can get it :glasses:
And the first 30 came off easy! Awesome! It looks like you have maintained your weight fairly well too...which is amazing! SO, dont look at it like starting all over, more like picking back up. Thats life...and you are doing GREAT!0 -
Today was my first day starting over with living a healthy lifestyle. I did pretty well over all. I went to the gym and did 20 minutes on the treadmill (running most of it) and 15 on the elliptical (hate that machine). I am also going to do around 20 or 30 minutes of strength training. But, I'm wondering if that's enough exercising for the day?
I also ate pretty well considering I went out to eat. I am under my calories by about 100 and I didn't eat my exercise calories.
While I know its not perfect, its definitely better than previous habits.0 -
