Do I have shin splints? +Insanity?

When I flex my right foot, the middle of my shin hurts. It's not a sharp pain though, it just feels like it's sore. It hurts a little bit when I walk, but not really while working out (I just tried doing some jump roping and it was fine). Does this sound like shin splints or is it something else?
Also, I'm supposed to start month two of Insanity tomorrow. I was planning on doing the fit test and then seeing how I feel, and if the pain is worse I'll probably just take a few more rest days before starting again. The shin pain isn't that bad, it's more annoying than anything but I don't want it to turn into something worse. Does anybody have any advice? Thanks!!

Could just be a tight tibialis anterior muscle. Here is the anatomy and what it does...it is involved with shin splints.

Stretches:

I can get tight there if I suddenly do some power walking and am constantly dorsi flexing my foot.0 -

I think that is my problem. I just tried stretching a bit and it doesn't hurt as bad. You were super helpful, thanks so much!0
