How does strength training burn build abdominal muscles?

It seems like strength training and weight lifting seems to target the arms and legs. So how is it that it also leans out your abdominal area? I'm new to all this, so I'm just really confused by it all.

Your core and stability muscles are engaged when doing heavy lifting.

LOL. Go look at people who have been doing serious yoga. Look at their cores.

Your abs keep your insides inside, and counter the muscles around your spine, and are what the muscles at the tops of your hips anchor to. Anything you do with your legs, your abs stabilize. Anything you do with your upper body, your abs stabilize. They are where balance comes from, and are the brake on the fulcrum when you bend or twist.

Doing full body exercises (rather than limited motion, targeted exercises) will build your core. It can't help but do so.

It doesn't 'lean out' any area. Deficit eating gets you leaner. Strength training makes you stronger.

I'm a little confused by what you're asking. If you're strictly strength training, you will build core muscles but I would recommed doing abdominal and back excercises to work those muscles as well, not just Arm's and legs. I wouldn't say strength training 'leans' anything out... it builds muscle with done with enough calories to build... When you go into a calorie deficit the fat around those muscles gets burned, rather you're strengthening those muscles or not, and they become more visible.
