1200 cals and not far off maintaining.

Hi Everyone, I have lost 38lbs on 1200 calories doing exercise 3-4 times a week, I am 5'2 45 years old and now weigh 157 lbs. My worry is that when it is time to go into maintaining apx another ten to fifteen pounds and i up the calories to what MfP recommends that i will start gaining the weight back?

Anyone else been where i am now and if so how did it go for you//

Thanks for any information or thoughts you have :)

add 100 or 200 cals/day and try that for 3-4 weeks to see how the rate of loss changes. Repeat until you're close to goal and almost stop losing,

I would actually start now, since you're so close, and really give yourself a couple weeks because any change in what you eat can have a short term effect even if long term you're still in deficit. Also I don't know if you're into weight training but I can tell you that I am in the same size I was after highschool (size 8) but am about 10 lbs heavier because I have more muscle and less fat than I had back them. I initially thought I would get to 140 and be a size 8 and be happy but now I'm 150 and a size 8 and know that I'll probably be a size 6 at 135-140 because of my weight training. If I were you I would use that 100-200 cals a day for more protein and add in some weight training :)
