If she's not a year old, she's too young.
After 12 months, start breaking her in gradually- short, easy runs. Always on lead, and always carry a poo bag ( you always do anyway) . Use a chest harness rather than a head collar.
My 2 year old cocker spaniel is a well known regular at my Saturday morning 5km park run. And I do longer Sunday runs with my 6 year old weim.0 -
When I was a kid I used to bring a bunch of dogs horseback riding with me. I never thought about this--and we would RUN the horses--a good 1/2 mile at a time and go out for literally all day during the summer breaks. We did stop by the Carson River and a small stream occasionally. (For those of you not familiar with it, the Carson River could be walked across during the summer, with barely your ankles wet at the right places). Poor dogs, but they did get in awesome shape!0
