I think it's a matter of personal opinion. I have friends who do it on Facebook too. I would feel weird liking my own status and comments, but my friend who is more outgoing might not see a problem with it at all.

I can't imagine that it would be a big deal. My husband does this kind of thing all the time on FB. I think he does it though because it bugs everyone.
